Got FVD’s? [Frequently Voiced Doubts]

Our clients had FVD's (Frequently Voiced Doubts) before traveling with us too!
FVD’s – Frequently Voiced Doubts - about experiencing Trinidad Carnival

As a spin off to our popular FAQ’s blog, which you can read about by clicking here, we decided to write about the many FVD’s (Frequently Voiced Doubts) that we get every day via our website.  Read on…chances are someone has the same doubts that you do!

Trinidad is this itty-bitty island in the Caribbean; I don’t know anyone there!  Will I be safe?
  • Yes, Trinidad is a little island!  However, it is safe.  You just need to use your travel smarts just like you would anywhere else.  Some basics we would strongly recommend are not wearing flashy (read: expensive) jewelry, carrying around expensive electronics and walking around by yourself at night time.  This is especially important if you’re traveling solo.

I’ve never traveled out of the country before.  What do I need to get to Trinidad Carnival?
  • As far as travel requirements go, getting to Trinidad Carnival is the easy part!  You’ll need a passport valid for 6 months after your date of travel.  Most countries do not require a VISA to visit Trinidad, however we strongly recommend that you check with your local Trinidadian embassy just to make sure.  The last thing you want to happen is getting denied entry after making all of your plans!
  • Taking part in Trinidad Carnival on your own is honestly the tough part.  From booking your own accommodations to navigating your costume and party tickets, you’ll need A LOT of patience and time.  If you just want to get your flight and your passport, then we recommend that you travel with a group travel service (like us – Ultimate Trinidad Carnival) who can plan all of the aspects of your trip to save you time, money and sanity!

Letting loose at J'ouvert
Can I really let loose as much as I want during Carnival?
  • Luckily for you, that’s what Trinidad Carnival is all about - letting loose and having fun!  While we certainly don’t recommend engaging in completely reckless behavior such as drinking until you pass out and similar acts, if you’re grown, then you already know how to have fun without losing consciousness (smile).  You’ll have the best time pacing yourself, partying hard at the fetes, parading through the streets in your beautiful costume and getting dirty at J’ouvert!

What if I’m a solo traveler?  Do you recommend that I travel to Trinidad Carnival all by myself?
  • If you’re a solo traveler, then Trinidad Carnival is a great option for you!  While we strongly recommend that you partake in group travel so you’re at least with a safe group most of the time, you can still have a great time by taking certain precautions.  We’ve outlined many of these in a blog we recently wrote.  Click here to read on!

Hopefully you’ve enjoyed our FVD’s!  What doubts do you have about traveling to Trinidad Carnival?  We'd love to address them for you!  Leave a comment below.

Til de next lime,
