Tobago travel during the holidays! (part 1)

Tobago travel during the holidays! (part 1)

Happy New Year!  It’s your girl, Esha here and thanks for stopping by our blog.  Tarik, myself and little Kwame are visiting Tobago during the holidays with my Mom, who lives here.  Every time Tarik and I visit, we’re always stunned and amazed by the beauty of this little island.  We really think that Tobago is one of the Caribbean’s best kept secrets!  During our latest conversation about Tobago, I decided to write a blog about our Tobago adventures so far…let’s go!

The sights
Made more camera-confident by Sarah Michelle Brown’s Video Mastermind, which I’ve been in for the past few months, I decided to film some video while here in this paradise.  Check them out below (they're all super quick - I promise)!

This first video is at Englishman's Bay.  Truly an untouched paradise beach, Englishman's Bay probably looks just like it did back in the 1900's.  Come here for the views, the food at Eula's (located right on the beach) and the homemade ice cream sold by the vendor in the parking lot.  AND get some shopping done at the 2 small stores here - the sarongs are unique and gorgeous as you can see from the video!

The next video is me at Pirates Bay in Charlotteville.  Charlotteville is a sleepy fishing village at the north east end of the island.  Although we took the challenging way of get getting to Pirates Bay - a 15 minute hike and 120+ stairs down - it was well worth it!  (We're taking a boat from Charlotteville next time though!)

This next video is a short one of Kwame, I AND the spectacular view along the 15 minute hike after we spent time at Pirates Bay.  Pirates Bay is definitely for you if you like to get off the beaten path.  "Son Son" will take care of you; he has a bar and also caters food for you if you like during your visit.

We also visited Parlatuvier at the Glasgow Bar and we truly think this is the best view on the island!  We took in a cool drink with Kwame while taking in the view (and shot some video for you).

The food
Deeelicious king fish from de Suckhole in Charlotteville
Oh, I’ve definitely been indulging while here in Tobago.  From any kind of fish – grilled, fried and stewed (yum, yum) – to all of the tasty sides – macaroni pie, stewed pigeon peas, ground provisions – I’ve been in food heaven!

My mom’s also been spoiling me with a curry-que Sunday lunch, a full Christmas dinner (Créole style), a fish pelau (with stewed fish, pigeon peas and rice) – it’s been blissful!  I don’t get my Mom’s home cooked food a lot, maybe twice a year if I’m lucky, so this girl has felt very, very blessed for the past 2 weeks.

I think this is the best Tobago trip we’ve taken to date because of the new places we’ve found and visited.  We have a couple of new spots to visit that we haven’t been to yet (Canoe Bay and Arnosvale Beach), so I’ll make sure to add another blog (and some more videos) soon!

If Tobago looks like your next destination, then you’ll definitely want to get in touch with us.  We'll be launching a new and unique Tobago travel experience in February ;)
