Trinidad Carnival
is around the corner and you know what that means? There’s Monday wear to be created!
It’s your girl, Esha here and I’m so excited about Trinidad
Carnival this year! (Okay, every year I’m
excited)…BUT this year I not only get to create Monday wear for myself, I also
get to create Monday wear for our Ultimate Trinidad Carnival 2019 clients. I offered this Monday wear option in our
Carnival Diva Upgrade and I'm having so much fun working on them
all! In this blog, I’ll focus on the inspiration and the Monday wear body and materials.
Ready? Let’s get into it!
The inspiration
For the Carnival Diva client Monday wear, I really wanted
them to be unique and colorful.
First,
I went to Amazon to look for swimsuits with sexy details, bold colors and
interesting patterns. I found 7
swimsuits per client, ordered them and had them delivered so they could try
them on and select 1 that they liked.
Once I returned the ones that didn’t make the cut, I focused on the ones
that did and picked the following color palettes from one of my fave books –
1000 ideas for color schemes: the Ultimate Guide to making colors work. I love this book and use it for anything from a color scheme in a room to my sewing projects to in this case, Monday wear.
I find it especially helpful to help me create a color palette around a certain color if I already have 1
in mind and need some complementary colors to go with it. This book also comes in handy if I know
the general color I’d like to use (blues, greens, reds), and just need some inspiration to move
forward.
Here are the schemes that I choose for the clients:
Modern green - I love the green with the orange hits! |
Peacock greens - this color combination of greens and blues was fun to play with! |
For my own Monday wear, the inspiration came from a fabulous
fabric that I fell into my mailbox from Mood Fabrics in New York. Check out my video below for the fabric
reveal:
Isn’t it pretty???
Here’s the color palette I’m thinking I may go in for this fabric:
Deep yet rosy is the name of this color palette... |
I’m getting excited just writing this!!! Okay, on to the materials.
Monday wear body and materials
Here are the photos of option 1 for the clients including
the swimsuit and decorative elements (gems and fringe):
This swimsuit will be fyah on de road when paired with the gems and long fringe below! |
After playing around with the gems that I purchased from Joann's, this is what I came up with. |
This red-orange fringe will tie it all together... |
Here’s option 2:
Sexy cut outs will make this swimsuit stand out on Carnival Monday! |
I really love how this color combination turned out... |
I decided on a pop of neon green for the fringe for this design. |
